It's OK to be so into your local football (American) team that you paint your body in team colors and attending an outdoor game in January with no shirt on but God help you if you go to a gaming convention and participate in the costume contest--parents will snatch their children off the streets when you walk by and people will point and whisper, casting judgement upon the "freak."

Fantasy Sports leagues requires are little more than fantasy games for jocks. Participate in them and it's a cute affectation. Go to a weekly RPG group, and you're one of THOSE people who don't have a social life, can't get a date (I'm married, thank you very much), and look at weird porn because you're not normal.

Never mind the fact that gaming is a social activity.

My wife's stepson (from a previous marriage) will spend thousands of dollars on season tickets for the local football team, but calls Gen Con "Geek Week." One day, I'll have to point out to him that it's an industry trade show, but I'm waiting until I can communicate with him without using profanity about the subject.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4282504373890041231.post-17150967773108371702013-02-28T18:05:13.317+00:002013-02-28T18:05:13.317+00:00Interesting trivia...
