My Son

Conor William Henry Shortt was born at 09:22 today, 11/7/11. He weighs 3.33kg, or 7lbs 2oz. That is exactly what I weighed when I was born.

Also, dig the prime numbers here! 11th day of the 7th month. The numbers in the time of birth add up to 13. Three 3s in his weight in kg. I should have named him Optimus!

There were some complications. So he's currently on a respirator and has needed fluid drained from his body through tubes. He may also need dialysis. But he's a fighter, like his parents. And we love him.

  1. Oh my gosh, look how precious! I bet you're so proud. I pray all the complications are quickly and easily dealt with, and he can be ready to go home soon. Congratulations!

  2. Congratulations Paul!

Welcome to the world of wonder. My girl was three weeks early and weighed in at 4 lbs 12 oz - thankfully no complications.

Enjoy this little wonder and embrace the lessons you will learn from him. I learned so much from seeing the world through my daughter's eyes and from her level (means spending a lot of time bending over or crawling around, but it's worth it).

Before you know it all the tubes will be removed and little Conor will be heading home.

Again, congratulation to you and your spouse.

    Cheers, Jenny

  4. Congrats. My boy was born early and was on a respirator for a while. It was a stressful time, but today he's nearly eight months and crazy cool awesome. You'll be in my thoughts.

  10. Thank you, everyone. Jen and I are doing well, all things considered.

Unfortunately, the time and emotion of it all isn't leaving me in the best place to keep up with blogs, or even my writing. Hopefully if I can get some better sleep I'll be able to spend some time working and not completely fall out of the habit.
